Our roots.
our legacy.
our history
In 1927, The Pure Holiness Churches of God, {PHC}, was birthed by a vision God gave to our founder Mother Mary Rowe. The first church was planted in Anniston, AL. PHC in its beginnings, began with a faithful few that would meet to worship God together in Mother Rowe’s house. Their beliefs was the same as what we believe today, an organization that’s foundation was built on the word of God of the Lord Jesus Christ. Beliefs that the principle foundation of preaching the Gospel, the ordinances are administered and the doctrine of which holiness is emphasized, as being essential to one’s salvation. PHC is commonly known as being a Holiness or Pentecostal denomination.

In 1935, Mother Mary Rowe came to Clem, GA where she founded Clem Pure Holiness Church of God, now known as St. John PHC. In 1936, Mother Rowe left Clem and went to Hiram, GA where she started the Pure Holiness Church of God in Hiram, now known as Smith Temple PHC. Mother Rowe then traveled to Coosa, Hulett and Senoia, GA to extend the PHC brand.

In 1952, God began blessing again, the Pure Holiness Church of God was established in Atlanta, GA now known as Timothy PHC. Later she went to Zebulon, GA and started Zebulon Pure Holiness Church of God which is now Joyful Tabernacle PHC. She then set her sights on Lineville, AL. and created a church there.
Because of Mother Rowe faithfulness and influence PHC now has a total of 16 churches in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
